This painting was created on site, between the Dutch islands of Vlieland and Terschelling. Sitting there with my easel, surrounded by the endless horizon and shifting tides, I tried to capture the atmosphere of this unique place. The boat, weathered yet steady, seemed to embody the rhythm of the sea—always in motion, yet deeply connected to the water.
I hope viewers feel a sense of tranquility and wanderlust, an invitation to pause and reflect. The gentle movement of the water and the vastness of the sky may remind them of journeys taken or those still to come.
I always use oil paint for its depth of color and rich texture. It allows me to build up layers that capture the shifting light and atmosphere, making each brushstroke feel alive.
